Stockholm Syndrome and Predictive Programming [updated]

Occasionally I will use this blog to convey thoughts and ideas about our condition as a species. See [Contra-Violence Shamanism Post Sept.1,2011] excerpt from John Lamb Lash as a part of this on going study. I am not a scholar, nor am I an accomplished writer, but I am an acute observer of patterns and human nature…. And I care.

So lets start with a quote from Mr. Alan Watt on “Predictive Programming” and its effect on society.

“Predictive Programming is a subtle form of psychological conditioning provided by media and films to acquaint the public with planned societal changes so as to be implemented by our “leaders” unabated. If and when these changes are put to task, the public will already be familiarized with them and will accept them as “natural progressions” thus lessening any possible public resistance or objection.

Hollywood is the magician’s wand (Holy-Wood), which has been used to cast a spell on the unsuspecting public. Things or ideas that would otherwise be seen as bizarre, vulgar, undesirable or impossible are inserted into films in the realm of fantasy. When the viewer watches these films, his/her mind is left open to suggestion and the conditioning process begins. These same movies, which are designed to program the average person, can give the discerning viewer a better understanding of the workings and the plan of the world agenda.” — Alan Watt

So much for TV and movies.

Consider for a moment our free will. Do you feel free? “Do you think that’s air you’re breathing”? [Matrix] Did we identify with the underground fighters? – Their fight to be free from being used as batteries?  And what about James Cameron’s movie – Avatar? Who did you identify with there?

Definition of Freedom – a state in which a person (or animal) is able to act and live as he or she chooses, without being subject to any undue restraints or restrictions.

Hhhmmm…. Something just sounds weird about that. Since we have never actually lived “without being subject to any undue restraints or restrictions”???

Now lets look at the definition of Slavery – the state or condition of being held in involuntary servitude as the property of somebody or something else – very hard work, especially for low pay and under bad conditions. (Taxes anyone?)

Yep, that’s more like it. You see – it’s only when people think they are not buying something can the real sales pitch begin.

This is why it is so utterly important to know who you are. YOU must know what you like, or what you don’t like, what you want to buy or own (such as debt – you do OWN that!). You must be willing to say no at the most uncomfortable of times. We must learn to decide for ourselves what we will or will not do, and be completely responsible for that decision.

Get to know exactly what you are afraid of, what scares you or what intimidates you and then face it. Talk about it openly with someone, hear what that “secret fear” sounds like out in the open.

This is the TRUE Spiritual work - the most important work of our time. Once and for all become aware of the tricks of the shadow, and step forward to risk being REAL.

We are always being manipulated, (as we have for hundreds of years since before the times of Plato) and coerced thru fear and social shaming; in fact, we ALL have Stockholm syndrome and just in case you don’t know whom your masters are?

 Here’s the short list -

Media, government, movie stars, rock stars, TV heroes, TV villains, music, money, houses, cars, clothes, skin color, hair color, weight, knowledge, information, education, technology, landscape, locations, cell phones, social media, your mate, your emotions, your parents, your siblings, your friends, their friends, the “younger generation”, gurus, teachers, politics, any/all authority, food, sugar, coffee, misfortune, handicaps, literally EVERYTHING external in this world.

We have become compliant, and docile because we refuse to look and/or feel out of place, and this aversion to feeling different has been manipulated in us for thousands of years. Remember the Barnum and Bailey quote? “There is a sucker born every minute”

It’s also referred to as “the big con”. (sound familiar today?)

Without a moral and SOVERIGN compass, we are completely held hostage by the things we “believe” will bring us happiness, while at the same time, becoming obedient slaves willing to be spoon-fed and waiting for ANY savior to rescue us.

It is our time to awaken and the task can be quick and thorough. Take it on, it will be the greatest work you have ever done.

Step one however, is knowing what we bought into, and how unwilling we are to acknowledge it.

One more thing, here is the definition of Stockholm syndrome – a hostage’s sympathy for the captor: a condition experienced by some people who have been held as hostage for an extended length of time in which they begin to identify with and feel sympathetic toward their captors.

Just added: This video was just uploaded on youtube Oct.27 2011 – It gives a powerful and unique perspective on this issue, and mentions cognitive dissonance as a very real problem we are faced with. Around 54:30 or so, you will hear much of what we are studying here. Very well done documentary.

Thank you so much for this post. I can’t explain how much better this makes me feel. For years I’ve been blaming myself for all of the negative in my life…trying to suppress and ignore the dark feelings and only focusing on the positive .Consistently thinking that it was my lack of positive thinking causing my distress. I thought, that acknowledging “the shadow” will only create more misery. This censoring has only led to increasing frustration and anger. Something always felt wrong about this idea…its lack of balance. This post validates my lack of connection with this idea and takes a big weight off my shoulders.

I think this has been the “story” for so many people. Trying to NOT to think negative thoughts is like trying not to be human…. it’s impossible, and to top it off with feeling like you’re not doing “it” right just makes it worse. I’m so glad the video was helpful.

Thank you for sharing this with everyone.
